The Venerable Bede was the first person to make a connection between the moon’s orbit and tidal fluctuation. He noticed that the moon controls the range of the ocean’s ebb and flow according to its position above the earth, and called the tidal rise and fall Reuma, from the Greek to flow.
Reuma: Night Moon portrays the tide at full moon when it rises at sunset and is associated with the highest spring tides.
